Ever wonder what it would take to bake 5,061 cookies? This year the teams at the Courtyard Hershey and Courtyard Mechanicsburg found out exactly how much planning and effort it would take to accomplish such a task.  Each year Shaner hotels joins efforts to help support our local community and the Hope Springs Farm in raising money for their annual cookie sale.

The goal of Hope springs Farm is to provide adults who have developmental and intellectual disabilities a day program to maximize their abilities.  “Growers”, as they are called, take part in various community activities including: volunteering in the local community, visiting local museums, swimming, taking field trips and shopping for the supplies they need to feed their animals or do their crafts.  Each year they have the annual cookie sale where funds are raised to help support the farm and the community.  On the Farm, the Growers have a variety of farm chores:  feeding their animals, cleaning up around the barn, planting, weeding and watering their gardens.  They also learn a variety of independent living skills, such as cooking, baking and shopping.

This year the Shaner team was able to bake over 5,000 cookies and smashed their donation goal.  Special thanks to Sysco who donated all the baking supplies to make this possible.

Thank you everyone for working so hard to hit this goal.  It is truly wonderful to see the great team effort.
