Courtyard Newark Hosts University of Delaware Rotary Club
The Newark Morning Rotary Club, in partnership with the Courtyard by Marriott – Newark University of Delaware, hosted the distinguished guests of the University of Delaware Institute for Global Studies (IGS) with 25 of Africa’s brightest emerging civic leaders here at UD for a six-week academic and civic leadership institute, for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. Dr. Nike Olabisi, Assistant professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware is the host for the guests.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities and support for activities in their communities.
Rotary members and local guests joined in this great evening of Rotary Fellowship! President Evelyn Hayes welcomed the guests and shared her distinguished career in military and educational service. Guest Simon Hewson gave inspiring comments about his life and the special relationship that his cousin, Bono (Paul Hewson) had with Nelson Mandela!
Thanks to all on our F&B team for a fabulous dinner. Chef Mark came out and spoke about the special menu he created for our guests!
How awesome. Congratulations! Wow that could be Mandela’s twin.
