The 18th Annual Shaner & JB Griffin Memorial Foundation Golf Classic took place August 9 – 10, 2018 at the beautiful Toftrees Golf Resort, which is rated the #4 golf course in Pennsylvania.  Funds raised at the Golf Classic benefitted the JB Griffin Memorial Foundation. The 2018 tournament consisted of 104 golfers on Thursday and 176 total golfers on Friday.  The tournament raised approximately $86,000 for charity.

This year, the JB Griffin Memorial Foundation will direct the proceeds from the JB Griffin Classic to the Tides Program.  Tides mission is to provide safe and nurturing peer support programming for children, adolescents and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one. Tides also raises awareness of the needs of grieving children in our schools and surrounding communities.  Tides creates a safe place with caring people where children, adolescents, and their families can know they are not alone in their grief and can share their feelings, memories, and experiences in a non-judgmental atmosphere. For additional information please visit www.tidesprogram.org.

The JB Griffin Memorial Foundation will also provide additional funding to Cancer Survivors’ Association pledging $7,500 for each 2018 and 2019, giving $5,000 to the Hope Fund of Penns Valley and $5,000 to the Rising Hope Therapeutic Riding Center.  For more information about these organizations please visit www.cancersurvive.org, www.pennsvalleyhopefund.org, and www.risinghopetrc.com.

The JB Griffin Memorial Foundation was formed in 2012, in memory of and to honor the life of our friend and colleague, JB Griffin, the Chief Financial Officer of Shaner Corp.  JB was a loving husband and father of five children who in August 2011, lost his battle with cancer and Shaner lost a great mentor to all fellow associates.

Shaner Hotels continues its time-honored tradition of giving back to the communities in which we do business. We are passionately committed to community service and encourage our associates to embrace this commitment as well. Since 2000, Shaner has raised over $885,000 to support our community.
