Courtyard Hershey Volunteers Their Time in the Community
Following in the philanthropic footsteps of Shaner Hotels, the team at the Courtyard Hershey has committed themselves to help out in their community at least once per month. Courtyard Hershey’s Helping Hands (CH3) has continued to follow-up on their promise truly making a difference in the Hershey region. Here are some examples of the work they have done this year:
Ronald McDonald House
During the month of February, proudly volunteered to prepare a meal for the local Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House of Hershey provides temporary housing to out-of-town families of seriously ill children who are being treated at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The team received a tour of the house and met several families who were extremely thankful for the meal that we provided. The team was very humbled by the experience and offered a variety of services to the Ronald McDonald House any time they have a need.
Hershey Gardens
In April, the CH3 Team volunteered at the Hershey Gardens. The Hershey Gardens opened in 1937 thanks to Milton Hershey. Over 75 years later, the garden blossomed into 23 acres of beauty. Also located at the Hershey Gardens is the Butterfly Atrium where you can find tropical butterflies from South and Central America, Africa and Asia.
During the visit, the team met with Bill Kieffer and received a tour of the property. They also were able to experience the Butterfly Atrium. The Hershey Gardens relies heavily on volunteers to assist with work in the gardens. The team received training on how to tend to the rose bushes and how to trim them up and get them ready for the season. The team was thrilled to interact with other volunteers, and they are looking forward to returning in June to see their progress on the rose bushes as they bloom.
