These annual awards recognize and honor the achievements of Marriott’s best team members, strongest managers and top performing hotels. Awards are based on financial performance, guest satisfaction, quality assurance results, and nominations received from General Managers, management company representatives and other above-property staff.  We are so proud to announce that the following Shaner hotels received awards! We all know that the Shaner team is exceptional all-around – but what exactly did the award winning hotels achieve to receive these prestigious awards? Read on for details on each accomplishment!

Opening Hotel of the Year                  Courtyard Hershey

Hotel opened between September 2016 and October 2017, and exemplifies hotel leadership, financial management, overcoming obstacles, sales leadership, service leadership, community service, with hotel’s opening performance (RevPAR Index, Occ,GSS) and opening “readiness” also being considered.


Diamond Circle Award                        Courtyard Madeira Beach

Properties must match 4 criteria, Overall GSS Score – Intent to Recommend; hotel must be in the top 5% of the brand. Brand Standard Audit Review Score; hotel must achieve Green on all BSA Operations Reviews. RevPAR Index Score; hotel must have a minimum RevPAR Index of 120 AND no decline in RevPAR Index vs. 2016. Hotel must be open by January 1, 2016


Sales Excellence- GM                         Maureen Moran, Fairfield Paramus

Minimum of one year as a FIS General Manager showing significant direct involvement in sales. Hotel must have grown RevPAR from 2016 to 2017 and be at/above the brand average on RevPAR growth.  GM must display excellent sales leadership and creativity that results in hotel revenue while consistently utilizing the Mad About Market Share Tool. Hotel performance in the area of GSS will also be considered.


Service Excellence- GM                      Dustin Shriner, Fairfield Huntingdon

Must have a minimum of one year as a FIS General Manager and Shaping Service training completed for all team members and all Service Training BSA questions passed. Must show commitment to Daily Promise Meetings, daily training “Service Reminders”, and Weekly Service Training execution while focusing on guest service and delivery of the Fairfield 100% Guarantee which contributes to year-over-year service excellence. Outstanding service story with hotel performance in the area of GSS is also considered.


Operations Manager of the Year     Tiffany Panosetti (joining us as the GM of CY Mechanicsburg April 15th)

Must have a minimum of one year as a CY Manager and exhibit outstanding operational leadership, strong performance in guest satisfaction, ability to overcome obstacles and challenges, support profit goals (financial controls, i.e. A/R, A/P, cash control, petty cash, costs controls) and contributes to property sales (revenue management, reservations effectiveness, involvement/participation in sales effort through tours, etc.).
