PSHRS Industry Awards to honor President and CEO of Marriott, Inc.


On Thursday, April 12, 2018 the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society will honor Arne M. Sorenson, President and CEO of Marriott International, Inc. as their 2018 Hospitality Executive of the Year at the Nittany Lion Inn, State College, PA.
A graduate of Luther College and the University of Minnesota Law School, Sorenson became the head of the largest publicly traded hotel chain in the world on March 31, 2012. He previously practiced law in Washington, D.C. with Latham and Watkins, has been a director for Wal-Mart, and has served as the Chief Operating Officer for Marriott.
The Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society (PSHRS) was founded with the purpose of strengthening all hospitality professions and enhancing the reputation of the Hospitality Management program. PSHRS is an Affiliate Program Group of the Penn State Alumni Association and the College of Health and Human Development Alumni Society.
The Awards and Gala event is a fundraiser that supports student scholarships and curricular initiatives in Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management, one of the nation’s oldest and most respected hospitality management programs. Each year, the event brings together students, faculty, alumni, and industry representatives to celebrate the achievements of an industry leader. Students have a valuable opportunity to network with leading executives.
