The week of September 10 – 16 was Housekeeper Appreciation Week in the hospitality industry.  This is a week where we get to celebrate the hard work and efforts our housekeeping staffs and show our appreciation for all they do.  Here is a few examples of how Shaner properties celebrated this special week:

Courtyard University of Delaware

There was an entire week of events at the Courtyard University of Delaware including a free breakfast, luncheon, Rita’s Italian Ice and an awards ceremony.  The highlight of the week was the annual Housekeeping Olympics where the staff competed in a series of fun activities related to the daily tasks performed by the housekeeping staff like making beds, vacuum races, toilet paper bowling and more.

Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina

Housekeepers were feeling appreciated all week at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina as they were treated to a boat ride in the harbor, breakfast on the bay and a trip to a local ice cream shop.  The week was also highlighted by Adopt a Housekeeper Day where each manager did something extraordinary for an associate on the housekeeping staff. The week was concluded with a private lobster boil for the team at Saltwater, which included live entertainment and a personalized menu for each associate.

Marriott Chattanooga

A full week of appreciation also occurred at the Marriott Chattanooga.  Housekeepers were treated with an ice cream social, breakfast, a luncheon, massages and Gift & Cupcake Day.  The highlights of the week included the Vacuum Doctor Table where the property engineers serviced each housekeepers vacuum making sure they were in tip top shape.  This was followed by a vacuum relay race.  Finally, nothing could top when the housekeepers were given the opportunity to pie their managers in the face.
