Geoffrey Field and Barbara Eslick recently led two sessions about sales, marketing and revenue management at Penn State University.  At the invitation of Donna Quadri-Felitti, Director of the Penn State School of Hospitality Management, Shaner Hotels agreed to teach Hospitality Management 380 for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters at the University Park campus  The class is an overview of all aspects of operating a hotel property.  Subjects include franchising, ownership, sales & marketing, front office, F&B and catering, engineering and legal/risk management.

 

Each week Shaner’s own subject matter experts use their real-life, on-the-job experiences to help teach the class based on the topic.  In addition to Geoffrey and Barbara, Patrick Landy, Mimi Driscoll, Morris Siyman, Ben Jellison, Matthew Pagano, Jeff Pugh, Mary Anslinger and Ryan Hurtack have participated.  The class also includes four field trips to Shaner locations in the State College area.

 

Plato Ghinos and Brian McMahon serve as the Associate Professors for the course and are responsible for organizing and managing the class, conducting exams and serving as mentors to the students.  There are 42 students in the class who are all hospitality majors.  All compensation being paid is donated to the JB Griffin Foundation.
