Another Great Day of Golf

The 2017 Shaner & JB Griffin Memorial Golf Classic was held once again on Friday, August 12 at the Penn State Golf Courses in State College, PA. This year’s beneficiary was the Bob Perks Cancer Fund, an organization that helps ease the financial burden of individuals and families in the State College community who are battling cancer by providing funding for basic necessities so their focus is on treatment and recovery.
The event started Thursday evening with a reception under the main pavilion with food from Primanti Brothers, live music, a silent auction and the 6th Annual Red Solo Cup Challenge, a bean bag/cornhole tournament. While the threat of rain loomed over the event, attendees did not let it prevent them from having a great evening of fun. The next day more than 280 golfers and 125 volunteers arrived at the Penn State Courses for a fun day of golf that was capped off with a closing reception Friday evening.
The Shaner & JB Griffin Memorial Golf Classic is one of the State College area’s marquee charitable events each year. This event would not be possible if it weren’t for the support of the volunteers who come back year after year to make the event a great success. Your time and support is greatly appreciated.

The golf classic was a great success. Congratulations! Jeff T- thanks for hanging out with the Marriott guys after the tournament. They had great fun!
I have had the pleasure of volunteering at the golf event for the past 3 years. It is usually really hot but we all have fun and the charities are so deserving. Thank you, Mandy, for all the hours of planning. It always turns out great!
Great Fun is an understatement, to be part of the event for over 10 years only got better hanging with the Marriott Team.
